Course time

Through an intensive module on Python programming with a focus on AI applications, and the use of Python in other modules on machine learning, the degree will also enable students to graduate as skilled AI programmers. The second year consolidates your learning with four computer science modules and two artificial intelligence specific modules. The computer science curriculum includes highly sought-after skills in cyber security, software design, object-oriented programming, databases, and web application development. The topics on artificial intelligence are machine learning, and machine learning operations.

You’ll learn the foundations of predictive tasks and will explore contemporary techniques for predictive modelling and model evaluation. Introduction to different paradigms of machine learning, linear prediction, regression, maximum likelihood, Bayesian ML, linear classification, logistic regression, Naïve Bayes, decision trees and fuzzy systems. Students will explore a range of AI techniques employed in games, how games can be used for AI research and the philosophy and science behind AI systems that take on creative responsibilities. During Welcome Week, you will be asked to choose one education stream of elective modules, according to your interests. Students who have completed one or two years of a Bachelors degree from an Ethiopian university with excellent grades (A or 4 points) can be considered for entrance to undergraduate programmes. Students are encouraged to take up Summer internships during the Summer holidays, though it is up to the student to find them.
